Warrant of Fitness (WoF)

A Warrant of Fitness (WoF) is a regular check that a vehicle meets required New Zealand safety standards at the time of inspection. The check covers items such as tyres, brakes, lights, glazing, structure, steering, suspension and safety belts. Mao Motors offers WoF inspections from its Wairau Valley workshop. If the vehicle does not pass, the failed items and any repair options can be discussed before work begins.

How long does a WoF inspection take?+
Inspection time depends on the vehicle and the workshop schedule. Call or send a booking request with your vehicle details so Mao Motors can discuss a suitable time.
What happens if my car fails the WoF?+
If the vehicle does not pass, the failed items will be explained and repair options can be discussed. Under current NZTA rules, a WoF recheck by the same inspecting organisation has no additional inspection fee when the vehicle is presented within 28 days.
How much does a WoF cost in Auckland?+
Mao Motors lists WoF inspections from $60 incl. GST. Contact the workshop to confirm the current price and appointment details for your vehicle.
When is my WoF due?+
New vehicles need their first WoF at 3 years old. After that, vehicles up to 12 years old need a WoF annually. Vehicles over 12 years old require a WoF every 6 months. Check your windscreen sticker for the exact due date.
